Physician Bio

Thomas W. Howard, M.D.

Dr. Howard is a native of Mt. Hope, WV. He is a graduate of Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. He received his M.D. Degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center, in Charleston, WV and his fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (an honorary medical society). He is a member of the American Medical Association and is a Fellow Member of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Howard is board certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine(Section of Rheumatology) for West Virginia University School of Medicine Charleston Division.

He has a special interest in treating rheumatoid arthritis, with over 15 years experience treating arthritis.
